Updated: 2011-12-23 12:07:55

The grocery stores and drug stores have modified hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Make sure you know what's open in case you have an ingredient emergency! Basically, the grocery stores are closed and the drug stores are open, at least part of the day.

Grocery Stores

Harris Teeter: Open until 7 pm on Christmas Eve. Closed on Christmas Day. Open at 8:00 AM on December 26.

Lowes Foods: Open until 6 pm on Christmas Eve. Closed on Christmas Day.

Kroger: Open until 6 pm on Christmas Eve. Closed on Christmas Day.

Food Lion: Open until 6 pm on Christmas Eve. Closed on Christmas Day.

Drug Stores

CVS: Most stores will be open Christmas Day. Hours vary so check with your local store.

Rite Aid: Open 9 am to 5 pm Christmas Day and some pharmacies are open 10 am to 4 pm.

Walgreens: Open 9 am to 6 pm Christmas Day (24-hour stores open as usual). The pharmacy will be open in some stores (and all 24 hour stores).

be kind in your interpretations. We who work on Christmas do so for service, not for greed. Thats why Drug Stores stay open, some people have illnesses, accidents, need meds, or other care needs for self or for children that couldn't be foretold.

Having employees come to work at 9am Christmas morning because somebody may need a pack of gum? Bah Humbug!!!!!

(And yes, I know people should be thankfull to have a job these days, but for cryin out loud, its Christmas!)

There are enough 24 hr pharmacies open without regular drug stores having to be open. GREED
