Glad to hear that nheerdt :)

Nancy- Thank you sooo much for the N&O info. I got my renual last week and the prices have already increased.

ddalmas, I only leave enough bag to seal it without crushing food in the sealer portion :) Now, with liquids such as applesauce or soup, I do leave more and "hang" the bag off the edge of the counter so it doesn't draw liquid up into the tray. Works great!

Yup, those bags are pricey but the ones online are terrific and cost about a third of the price! Even with the shipping no less!

Oh Nancy, thanks for the tip on the less expensive bags/rolls for the Food Saver! I was a little shocked at the price of the FS rolls at Wal-Mart even after the $2 printable coupon. But I have been having fun figuring out just how much roll to use for portions. The instructions say leave 4 inches - haha! Over the weekend I used the canisters that came with my FS to vacuum seal some cranberry Christmas cookies - the only recipe among my favorites that doesn't seem to keep well for a few weeks in the freezer - so I am looking forward to tasting the results in a few weeks!

I am looking for a coupon that was out a couple weeks ago for Pepperidge Farm 3-Layer cake - $0.50 off... If anyone has one available in the Cary/Morrisville/Apex area, please email me at Willing to pick up tomorrow after 5:30pm...

I'm also willing to trade, so if you have one you're looking for, please let me know and I will see what I can do...

LOL, you have to be careful there Steph, you might vacuum seal pets, spouses and others in your excitement :)

I know you'll love it! You'll find so many uses for it. Just remember, if you don't want something to get "crushed", flash freeze it first (like bread) then vacuum seal it :) No more freezer burn on bread!

I had way too much fun trying it out tonight! The steaks weren't completely frozen, but they worked :) I only had one bag out of 10 that didn't seal. Oh well -- it is still better than a ziplock :)

I won't need bags for awhile -- it came with 3 rolls, a bunch of gallon, and 44 quart size bags! It also came with the microwaveable steamer bags! Can't wait to try my broccoli and carrots that way.

steph! Ta-Da! Nothing hard about using it, once your steaks are frozen, you can begin packaging them as you like, two to a bag, 3 to a bag, one to a bag, whatever you like!

Oh, and in the future when you need bags, don't buy the Food Saver brand, I found a very inexpensive source online for high quality bags -

Of course the rolls you buy from them won't fit in the inside holder but for the savings, it's sooooo worth it :)

nheerdt - call 1-800-522-4205 and give the code SC13, you should be able to get a good deal on the N&O. Also, since the prices are going to jump in a big way come January, now would be the time to lock down the best deal you can, price increase won't apply to you until it's renewal time :)

lindalarry40, my 2 children picked up a a lot of pecans at my mom's Thanksgiving Day and have been trying to sell them. They have gallon-sized zipper bags stuffed with unshelled pecans for $5 or 2 bags for $9. We live in Holly Springs and hubby works in Morrisville, if that helps.
