WRAL SmartShopper

My thanks to you!

Posted November 23, 2011

With Thanksgiving only a day away, I want to thank you all for being a part of this blog!  Every day you share your deals, vent your couponing frustrations, humor us with your adventures and share frugal living tips on everything from buying an extra freezer to swapping coupons to cooking turkey in the slow cooker.

I have made so many friends since starting this blog and I thank you for that as well. For those who never post, but still continue to read every week, I am also grateful to you. Together, I think we all have really turned this blog into a community of folks genuinely interested in helping each other live more comfortably within our means.

In addition, because of the efforts of so many of you, we have donated what I am sure is thousands of pounds of food to the various food banks in the community over the last 2 years. Between the WRAL couponing class food drives, the coupon swap food drives and the monthly food donations that I know so many of you make, I know you have made a difference in the lives of more than a few people. So I thank you for that as well.

I also want to thank WRAL for hosting this blog, taking care of all the technical stuff and for giving me the freedom to share any and everything I think will help you.

I probably won't be logging in much in the next couple days as I spend our Thanksgiving with a house full of family and friends from near and far away. But know I will be thinking of you as well and giving thanks for all you have shared with us this last year.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Thanks to everyone who posts here, to WRAL for this space, and to Faye for getting directly to the point in a clear and concise fashion. I have een couponing for decades, but the local touch of this blog has helped me to save lots of money, try new products, provide help to my young adult children, and increase my ability to donate to worthy causes about 3 fold!

Wow. I am reading your posts with tears in my eyes. I am so excited about the effect our little blog has had on so many lives. I am so thankful you were all willing to share your experiences and thoughts. And we welcome the lurkers who have come out to post. It's great to "see" you! :-)

Nancy, I agree about filling the van with food bank donations at the December Chick-fil-A Garner coupon swap! I think that's a totally reasonable goal!

Well, my pie is cooling, the broccoli slaw is done and the sweet tater casseroles are finished. Time to get ready for CVS! Soon I will be thankful for sleep! LOL

I am one of the lurkers, and I have learned so much from this blog over the past year. I am looking forward to chatting with and getting to know everyone...and not being a lurker anymore. I am so thankful for this blog, for Faye, and for all of the others who post. Happy Thanksgiving all!

Faye, thank you so much for being so generous with your tips and help. It has been such a wonderful feeling to actually have groceries in the budget rather than on a credit card. You guys are awesome!! I'm thankful for all of you. :)

Thank you Faye for all that you do. Because of all the hard work YOU do, we couponer's are able to easily pick out the quick sales of each week. In the last 2 weeks I learned of 2 needy families and because of being able to coupon we were able to put together bags and bags and bags of food, toilet paper, laundry soap, shampoo, tooth paste and plenty of food and even several goodies. Being a newly separated mom with a tight budget, I've been blessed with learning to coupon just this past Spring and am now able to generously help out without causing ANY strain to our budget. Truly you are a blessing and this is what your hard work has helped to produce. Thank you.

I challenge all who coupon to give generously to those in need not just now but all year round. We don't need giant stockpiles, we've taken advantage of a great gift and it feels WONDERFUL to be able to give back.
