terr...I've had fresh, organic turkeys before and they do taste better, in my opinion. However...it wasn't that much better than a Butterball and considering that fresh turkeys are double the price they are probably not worth it.

Oxy, a friend of mine did that last year! Her 2nd freezer died Thanksgiving weekend 2009. She was taking care of her neighbor's dog while he was out of town. So, she moved the entire contents of her 2nd freezer into his empty freezer. As repayment, she made him a bunch of freezer meals. I chipped in with chocolate chip cookies (his favorite).

Well, Oxy, if you have a large turkey in the freezer now, it will be out in a couple days into the fridge for thawing, making room for turkey breasts :)

And me with no room in the freezer. :(

I have actually considered asking my neighbor, a batchelor with little more than ice in his freezer, if I could toss a breast or 3 in there so long as I make him a plate when I cook them.

Eagleland - wow, when I went, they only had two in the case, I asked a young man taking inventory if they had more, "Sure enough" he said and headed to the back of the store, came out with a box of them and another guy followed with another box.

That was two days ago, Monday. Glad I went then!

FYI I was at Walmart off capital last night and the turkey's were .45lb.

I was in White Oak Target this morning just before 9 a.m. and they didn't have any. I then went up to the other Target on 70 in Kroger Plaza and was told the truck just came in and it would be an hour or so before they could get them to the floor. So, I just nicely waited in my car for a little while to clean my purse and listen to radio. Then, BAM - went back in about 10:15 and got my TWO! Cary and Apex were both out when I went last night, but since I had to be in Garner this morning, I just stopped in to check. So happy for my 2! Saving them to use later.

Is there a difference between a frozen and a fresh turkey? Has anyone noticed the price of a fresh butterball at Walmart?

  • Kato Nov 16, 2011

Don't forget that Kroger has Honeysuckle White Turkey for $0.49/lb with an additional $25 purchase too. Limit 1 per transaction.

strait - they have them at the White Oak Target too :) And if they don't have any in the bin, ask, because they have a good supply in the back :)
