Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday this weekend

Posted November 2, 2011

It's time for the annual Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday where qualifying appliances are tax-free during the sale. Many stores are having special sales and events to promote the savings. The tax holiday runs Friday,  11/04 to Sunday,  11/06. For more details on qualifying items, click HERE.

Sears at Cary Towne Center shared that they are celebrating their 125th birthday bash during the tax-free weekend and sent me the following:

"Sears *Tax Free* Days in NC is happening this Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 11/04-11/06!  Come join us at Cary Towne Center Mall to $AVE BIG and celebrate Sears' 125th birthday bash!  The tax free event is valid on any ENERGY STAR qualified purchase of the following: clothes washers, refrigerators, freezers, central A/C units, room air conditioners, heat pumps (air source & geothermal), ceiling fans, dehumidifiers and programmable thermostats. (Excludes: Items for business use and rentals. See store for details)."

Anyone planning to buy a qualifying appliance this weekend because of the tax-free promotion?

Ok, we finally made our decision on the new upright freezer. Akkkk! Here I was ready and happy to get a small chest freezer to augment the space in our current upright when hubby decides it's time to upgrade the upright! It is 15 years old but still runs great!

Anyway, it's a Maytag 20.1 cu ft upright. Adjustable shelves - yay! And a few other goodies too but wow, I'm going to actually have 6+ more cu ft of space :) hhhmmmm, bring on the turkey/turkey breast deals. I will have a place to store those turkeys before donating!!!

steph, it's looking like around a 20 cu ft size - and that seems HUGE from my 13-14 cu ft current one. We managed to hit Best Buy, HHGregg, Lowes, Home Depot and Sears in one sweep last night. In/out just gathering a look at what was available.

You will have to let us know which "baby" you picked out ;) I think we are going to get one of the bigger ones -- we shall see how much is in the budget.

"Nancy -- What are you talking about? This is not my gift! For my gift I want a food saver ;)"

ROFL - you girls are SOOOOOO smart :) Seriously, I so relate to people who want functional things instead of the flash in the pan stuff LOL

Yup, you will NEVER regret a food saver, ever! That, my crockpot and my breadmaker are mandatory items in my house, can't live without them now that I've had them - kind of like never buying another car without power windows once you've had one with them ;)

Dstned - good to see you too :)

And girls, hubby pulled a HUGE surprise on me tonight :)

Looking at the small chest freezers, he said "why don't we just replace the upright with a bigger upright?" So that's what we're going to do. Our current upright is about 15 yrs old, runs great but we don't know how much longer it has. I have a friend who might take it or I'd offer it here. If she decided not to, I'll let everyone know.

Soooo, we looked at larger uprights tonight. So sometime tomorrow we'll fit in our schedule a trip to Best Buy (they had the best price on the one we were looking at) and make the deal.

Mercy, I have room for turkey(s)!!! Gobble, Gobble :)

Nancy, It was great to run into you at HT this afternoon! I always enjoy chatting with you! So glad you will get your additional freezer! I'm working on mine too...think I'm going to pay a visit to Sears this weekend.

Nancy :( I noticed the same thing!!! I was a little sad, the ones that will fit in my little townhouse (and little budget, haha) are not energy star...

How very sweet of hubby though! He better be careful there may eventually not be any man space left :)

You will have to let me know if you find any great deals! I might head out this weekend anyway and at least look!

steph- I felt the same way, I asked my parents for a foodsaver, a laser printer, and dishes for my birthday/christmas and I felt so boring :)

Nancy -- What are you talking about? This is not my gift! For my gift I want a food saver ;) So that I can fill up that freezer without freezer burn! :) I am also begging for a new bread maker. Mine is about to bite the dust. Funny how I used to get mad at my husband for buying me appliances. Sigh . . . . . getting old!

Yay steph!!! I'm so excited for you! Isn't it funny that we get excited about a freezer LOL - but that just means we're practical and would prefer functional "gifts" even if it's not a 'gift per se :)
