New ALDI store opening Wednesday, 3/28!

The new ALDI store will be opening in Wake Forest on March 28th for a half day preview and then on March 29th they will be officially open. Click HERE for the ALDI website.

On Wednesday, March 28, the public is invited to sample and tour the store as part of the Grand Opening festivities.  On Wednesday, the store will have reduced hours and I'll have those details posted a couple days before the opening. They will begin their regular hours on Thursday, March 29. They are located at 2132 South Main Street in front of Wal-mart and behind Crossroads Nissan

During their neighborhood 1/2 day event, they usually hand out nice recyclable grocery bags with samples. They also have great store opening specials when they open new stores so I'll also post those before the 28th.

If you live close to the new store, you may receive a coupon in the mail for $5 off a $30 purchase. Aldi does not take coupons usually so this is a rare and nice coupon to have. Not all zip codes will receive the coupon, but if you live in Wake Forest, watch your mail in the weeks leading up to the opening.

If you have never shopped at ALDI, I highly recommend you check out their fabulous produce prices and good everyday prices on staple items. In order to keep those prices so low, they have some unusual policies. Here are some helpful policies to remember about Aldi:

* ALDI does not accept manufacturer coupons

* You will need to bring your own bags to bag your groceries. They do not provide any.

* If you wish to use a grocery cart, you will need to deposit a quarter into the cart machine and you will get it back when you return the cart.

* They accept cash, debit and EBT cards as forms of payment. They do not accept credit cards or checks.

Thanks for the price for butter, DrCyndi!

Faye, my DIL went by there and saw that they were closing at 4. They told her that it was a Media event yesterday BUT they were not turning away paying customers, smart move! I had to be at work at 7:30 AM, so will not make it today, probably. Thanks for the update, though.

jdouglas13, the price of butter at Aldi is $1.99 as of todays ad. If you go to Aldi's website you can sign up for the ad to be e-mailed to you each Wed. & it also gives you the ad for the following week.

Faye, do you have any idea when the Aldi near Southpoint is opening? The sign says November, but it doesn't look nearly ready. Thanks!

I did not look at the butter - sorry jdouglas. Can anyone help with that one?

My buy price is $2 per lb for real butter (or pretty close to that).

I love Aldi and Trader Joe's, glass half full!

Faye, did you happen to notice the price per lb for butter? I need to start some serious stocking up for holiday baking.

I did some research a while back and found that Aldi and Trader Joe's have the same parent company. I love Aldi!
