Thanks for the advice sewhunt and jdouglas. I keep going back and forth about calling. Aveda looks like even paying for the cut wouldn't be bad (I just need a cut and highlights). Maybe I'll just go for it :)

I had great luck at mastercuts at crabtree last time, BUT I don't remember the gal's name who did my hair :( and they were running a special on highlights, so I ended up getting both for around $60-70 before tip I think, which wasn't too bad considering I was happy with it :)

ncsualum -- I have been to both for color and can recommend them both for that. The Paul Mitchell offers a discount on color on Wednesdays (call ahead to make sure though). I've never had the nerve to let them cut my hair. But if you need a recommendation for a good place for a haircut for around $50-60, let me know. Yes, still pricey, but my recent experience with a $20 haircut looked like the stylist had pulled my hair into a ponytail and chopped it off in one cut. I keep my hair in a style that only needs to get cut 3 times a year, so I figure it balances out in the end.

ncsualum09, I have been to Aveda in CH on Hair model days. Free shampoo, cut, and style(there is a fee for color). They do a excellent job because they are being watched and shown how to cut, etc... The only drawback is finding a place to park.

Has anyone here had any experience going to one of the cosmetology schools for a hair cut? I know there is the Aveda Institute in CH, and there is a Paul Mitchell one in Raleigh. I am trying to find ways to cut costs in all aspects of my life, and I have had such bad experiences going to the $20 hair cut places you find in strip malls (I have tried so many of them, haha) BUT, spending $100 for the cut ALONE just seems hard. I am curious to see if anyone has had an experience good, bad or otherwise :)

jdouglas - I really like the 40/42 store as well.

ckp - good to hear you had a positive experience with your RR's at the Clayton location.

Thanks for the info nikkijohnson. If you have never shopped kmart before, you will be surprised at their everyday prices. Even with doubling coupons, the prices are higher than you would expect, in general. If you go and find some good deals, please post them.

ckp - I'm so glad to hear Lowe's took your RRs! That's awesome. pss3, thanks for the info about the other stores in the area. If I need to go to Lowes, I usually go to the one near 40/42 or the 401/10-10 HT even though I am about 11 miles east of 70. When I first moved here, I sent HT an email begging them to open a store somewhere in Clayton! LOL Actually, I think they would do very well here given the large number of savvy shoppers in the area.

OK, I just tried it. I used all 3 of my $$ off Walgreens RR thingys at Lowe's in Clayton and the TOOK THEM!! Woo hoo! So happy! I too have had problems lately with this Lowe's but after a long email listing issues, I received several email replies and a $20 gift card to make up for issues. Hope this helps.
