Thursday thoughts: Coupons.com Savings Club

Have you seen the new Savings Club from Coupons.com? Wondering if it is worth the cost? Here are my thoughts as well as a sample of the "exclusive" coupons.

Have you seen the new Savings Club from Coupons.com? Wondering if it is worth the cost? Here are the details of the club including the cost and a sample of the "exclusive " coupons.

Coupons.com has just launched a new aspect of their website called the Savings Club. You pay $3/mo or $30 if you pay for the year in full. For this fee, you are supposed to receive more premium coupons, greater savings on those coupons and early access to the coupons.

They are offering a 30-day free trial period if you are interested in trying out the club. Click HERE for the free trial sign-up and more information on the club.

Folks on some other blogs have posted the initial "exclusive" coupons they have received and here are the ones listed by a couponer on afullcup.com:

.50 off any Bob Evans ref. side dish

1.50 off a 4pk of Seattles Best iced lattes

1/2 Bacardi mixers

1.25/2 Zest body wash or 8bar soap

2.00 off Post-it pop-up note dispenser $5 min

1.25/2 Vanity Fair napkins

Personally, the only coupons we would use from that list are for Bar Keepers Friend and the Blue Dog Bakery Treats. I have printed the Blue Dog coupons many times from various sites so those are pretty easy to come by. None of the others are for products we use. If you use those products, the club may be worth the $3 per month ($2.50.mo if you pay for the year in full).

It would be very unfortunate if free coupon printing sites decided to move towards a membership-only website. If I had to pay for all of my printable coupons, I would have to think twice about printing any more coupons. We already pay for the computer paper (usually very cheap through office rebate deals, though) and ink. I am just not as inclined to pay for a membership fee for coupons that are not truly spectacular. Based on what I see from the coupon list above, I am better off with my local paper and a subscription to All You Magazine (which usually has $50 or more of manufacturer's coupons in each monthly magazine).
