I love Aldi. I agree, name brand with coupons is cheaper but when I run out or need something that is not on sale I hit Aldi. Never been unhappy with anything there.

Growing your own garden helps a lot as well, tewc.

tewc - I look for the best sales each week (usually $1/lb or less), buy from the markdown produce section in HT, buy from local produce stand near my daughter's school.

Aldis had turkey for $1.09/lb - not as cheap as holiday turkeys but a good price in general. Also, found out they are building an Aldis in Durham

Wow - .33/lb for nectarines! That's a great deal! Keep in mind that with Aldi, often the produce is very ripe and you have a small window in which to use the food before it goes bad.

Holly - I totally agree. If there was an Aldi close to me, I would buy produce there, but coupon elsewhere for non-produce items.

I was just in central NY for the weekend and plums, nectarines were .33/lb. at Aldi's. Guess I should of made time to go there.

i was in Aldi earlier this week to pick up some produce (used to shop there more regularly before i started using coupons) and i did get some good produce deals, but . . . . when i started really looking at prices for other things it was very easy to see how much cheaper you can get things at other stores when you use coupons and watch for sales! :)
