Let's celebrate National Coupon Month with giveaways!

Posted September 1, 2011

Happy National Coupon Month to all of you! Yes, it’s the official month of the coupon. We are going to have some fun celebrating its awesome power starting right NOW with a fabulous coupon giveaway!

But first… a little history.

According to the PMA (Promotion Marketing Association), the first recorded coupons were handwritten from Coca-Cola in 1886. That’s 125 years ago! Imagine all the coupons that have been redeemed in the last 125 years. By 1965, one half of Americans were using coupons and in 2010, according to , couponers saved 3.7 BILLION dollars using coupons! Way to go Smart Shoppers!

In 1998, couponers around the globe (not really) began celebrating National Coupon Month every September and this is why we are going to shake things up with bunches of coupon giveaways all month long!

Is that cheering I hear?

Not only will I be posting a coupon giveaway of some sort EVERY Friday in September (instead of the usual once a month giveaway), I will also throw in some surprise coupon giveaways throughout the week, every week in September. You’ll have to be on your toes to win some of these goodies. Don’t worry if you can’t access the blog during the day while at work (because I know none of you read the blog while on the clock……). I’ll post them at all hours including the evening, so everyone will have plenty of chances to win, win, win!

Let’s kick it off with a Coupon Giveaway for an envelope full of fantastic coupons worth over $85 including:

$10 rebate for ANY meat or poultry items purchase of $10 or more! Can you say FREE MEAT?! This rebate is from a beer rebate tear pad and specifically states, “ No beer purchase necessary.” You have until 9/30 to buy the qualifying items.

Coupon for a FREE Wholly Guacamole, Queso or Salsa product up to $5.29!

Coupon for a FREE Large Diet Coke at Chick-fil-A!

Kellogg’s and Keebler coupon book with $18 worth of coupons for various products!

A stack of coupons from various sources worth over $50!

How’s that for starters?

To enter, simply post how long you have been couponing using A, B, C, D or E in the comments section below.

A = Brand spanking new to the sport and just started couponing.

B = Been couponing less than 6 months but not a total newbie.

C = Pretty coupon savvy with at least 6 months under my belt/coupon organizer.

D = Comfortable couponer with 1-3 years of experience.

E = Seasoned pro with 4 years or more of couponing experience.

I will randomly choose a winner on Monday, 9/5 at 10 AM and post the winning name soon after that. Good luck and Happy Coupon Month!

A= Brand spanking new to the sport and just started couponing. I figured if people are saving money and it proves to be working why not start trying today and besides I could use some money-saving tips for my family.

D- I'v been couponing for a few years now. Since I started visiting this site I now think of it as a part-time job. But I'm nowhere near the level of an extreme couponer. On a good shopping day I save twice as much as a spend. I don' t have enough room to hoard. I would like to donate my extra groceries to backback buddies or a soup kitchen (if I ever get to that level)

    E. My boyfriend while I was in grad school used to laugh at me for using coupons at the grocery store. That is, he laughed until he realized just how much I saved. (He's my hubby now. Hmmm... wonder if it had anything to do with my frugal nature?)
