Traffic roundabouts make my head spin

Or at least the people who don’t know how to drive around them do!

Traffic circles are designed to CALM traffic, but I get worked up just about every time I enter one of the relatively new ones around North Carolina State University.

I just got back to the office after making my way around three of them, and I’m still annoyed. The reason: too many drivers just STOP! What’s the deal? The signs say YIELD! That means if there isn’t any traffic coming, you GO! And even if there is traffic – usually – you can slowly merge into it.

I guess traffic circles are intimidating to many drivers. Enough that eHow actually has a step-by-step guide on how to drive through them. And Wikipedia offers a fully animated graphical lesson!  Check out the links and spread word!

But keep in mind, I’m also the first to admit that I think anyone who drives faster than me is a maniac, and anyone who drives slower is an idiot.
