Best Breakfast Spots

I love going out for a good breakfast! So an article in this month’s issue of Southern Living Magazine naming the “BEST BREAKFAST spots in North Carolina” caught my attention. I’m sorry to say the only one I’ve visited is Big Ed’s! At least it’s number one, so that I can say I’ve been to the top spot! Have you been to any of their picks? Are there any specific menu items you recommend? Do you have a favorite breakfast spot to add to the list? Share your thoughts! And here's to bacon, eggs and grits!

1. BIG ED’S CITY MARKET RESTAURANT, RALEIGH
Don’t Miss: The grilled biscuits with molasses or redeye gravy

2. SMITH’S DRUGS, FOREST CITY
Don’t Miss: A liver mush-and-egg sandwich or liver mush biscuit

3. EARLY GIRL EATERY, ASHEVILLE
Don’t Miss: Vegan Tofu Scramble, local sausage, and Sweet Potato Scramble

4. DIXIE GRILL, WILMINGTON
Don’t Miss: Fried Green Tomato BLT on Texas toast

5. ZADA JANE’S CORNER CAFE, CHARLOTTE
Don’t Miss: One of four unique Merry Yolker Tres Huevos Omelets or the Bunny Rancheros breakfast burrito

6. MARY’S OF COURSE! CAFÉ, WINSTON-SALEM
Don’t Miss: Breakfast Burrito

Be sure you check out Monica's restaurant ratings before you go to Finch's or to Golden Corral!

Although they are only open for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday...the local Golden Corrall is out of this world. Reminds me of Grandma's with fried chicken for breakfast and even cooked a couple of steaks the other Saturday. Steak and eggs! Omelets to order too... And...you can go back and back and back! About the same or even less than the "one shot one plate places!" Why not? I sound like a "Corrall" stock holder...but we just love it!

The Old Pier House in Kure Beach and the Farmers Market Restaurant in Raleigh...YUMMY country ham biscuits!

Bob's Grill in the Outer Banks! Best pancakes, hash browns and omlettes!!!

Been to the Dixie Diner in Wilmington and it is absolutely great. Used to be a place no one knew about, but not anymore. Now you usually have to wait in line. However, another great breakfast place is the Pier Restaurant at Kure beach. Their homemade biscuits are the size of a saucer and really good. Service has always been fantastic also.

It would be a shame to leave Finch's on Peace Street off the list.

Can't beat Big Ed's. My husband and I have breakfast there every Saturday morning!

Don't overlook Brigs - Cary, RTP, and Raleigh locations all have terrific breakfast available whenever they're open. Somehow they always have the best fresh fruit.

I LOVE breakfast, but after reading number 2, I'm not sure I'll be able to eat in the morning....

Yana in swansboro best place for all meals on the coast, fritters, are the best and home made specials are fitting, burgers the old fashion way you can beat this place.
