Is it right for a day care to give your personal information out to its employees?
Question: Is it right for a day care to give your personal information out to its employees? Is it right for the administrators to let the employees know how much you are paying monthly or if you have a day-care voucher?
Answer: Hi LeAnn, I want to make sure this is an employment question - we are here to answer employment disputes. Are you employed by the daycare? If you are employed there, I think you should ask the daycare not to give out your personal information to anyone who does not need to know it. If you are employed at the daycare, the daycare has to maintain some personal information about you because it is required by law. However, if you are employed there, they should not disseminate that information if you ask them not to distribute it to anyone who would not need to have the information. In addition, please note that if you are employed by the daycare, they must maintain the secrecy of your medical information.
Based on your question, however, it seems as though you are not employed by the daycare. If you are a customer of this daycare, I would ask them not to disseminate this information. If it is a reputable business establishment, it will want to keep your business and it should respect your wishes. However, I do not know of any legal issue with the daycare providing this information to its employees.
