Hamilton Beach toasters pose a fire hazard

Published: 2011-12-15 18:08:08
Updated: 2011-12-15 18:08:08

Hamilton Beach Brands is recalling 14,000 'Classic Chrome' 2-slice toasters.

The problem: when the toasters are first plugged in, the heating element can energize even if the lifter is in the up or off position. If the toaster is near a flammable item, it could catch fire.

So far though, there are no reports of injuries or property damage. It's model number 22602 which is printed on the bottom of the toaster. It was sold between August and November of this year.

If you have one of the toasters, stop using it and contact Hamilton Beach to get a replacement toaster. For more information, contact Hamilton Beach at (800) 576-6600 anytime, or visit www.hamiltonbeach.com.
