55-year-old using walker struck, killed by SUV in Moore County

Authorities said Joseph Schoolcraft of Aberdeen was crossing U.S. Highway 1 while using a walker and was struck.

— A 55-year-old man was killed Monday night after being struck by an SUV in Moore County.

Authorities said Joseph Schoolcraft of Aberdeen was crossing U.S. Highway 1 while using a walker and was struck by an SUV just after 6:30 p.m..

The driver of the vehicle was given an alcohol test that came up negative, authorities said. Witnesses confirmed that they did not see Schoolcraft in the roadway.

Charges are not expected.
