Child, 6, struck by car in Cary

— A 6-year-old boy was struck by a car in Cary Saturday night, according to authorities.

Officials said the incident occurred on Carter Grove Court around 7 p.m. while the boy was playing with sidewalk chalk.

The victim suffered minor, non-life threatening injuries, including scrapes on his arms and legs, family members told WRAL News.

The child was treated and released from Duke University Hospital by Sunday morning.

No further information has been released.

    Ouch! Poor kid.. So the car was up on the Sidewalk? Or was the child in the street? Just says he was playing with Sidewalk Chalk...

    Thank god that an SUV wasn't involved. The headline would certainly read "SUV strikes child playing with chalk"... When will people remember to keep their SUV's chained up... It's the only way to prevent them from attacking the innocent.
