— Rocky Mount police charged a man with hit-and-run Wednesday after he came back to an intersection where they said his car struck a 3-year-old girl two hours earlier.

An unidentified person called Rocky Mount 911 Dispatch at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday to report a hit-and-run near the intersection of Barnes Street and Cherry Street.

Emergency crews took the 3-year-old girl to Nash General Hospital and later flew her to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where she was believed to be in critical condition.

Authorities did not release her name.

Police charged Emmanuel Coley, 19, with felony hit-and-run and driving without an operator’s license after he returned to the scene of the crash, authorities said.

Police held Coley in the Edgecombe County Jail under $10,000 bond.

Anyone who might have witnessed the crash should call Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111. Callers may remain anonymous.

"I do have to give the 19-year-old some credit for returning to the scene." - previous post

We don't know that this man came back voluntarily or just returned to the scence and happened to get noticed and caught. WRAL was unable to get these details.... hmmmmm. You never know how bright a 19y.o. is.... :)

    I hope the child recovers.

A child has been critically injured and all that the most of you can do is debate over whether to post that you are praying? Sort out the priorities people. Hope the child recovers.

If you guys want to do all this praying, which of course is a very nice thing to do, JUST DO IT. Posting that you're praying is not necessary. I doubt Jesus would be posting about his praying habits.

Looks like you're feeling irrationally threatened by those who post that they're praying.

"I do have to give the 19-year-old some credit for returning to the scene."

----have to agree, atleast we know he has a conscience. He still has to pay for what he did but he is on the right track.

I do have to give the 19-year-old some credit for returning to the scene. The article doesn't specifically say that he did so to admit wrongdoing but this would seem to be the case.

He could have laid low and avoided the area.

Anybody else read the story that way?

    Hereandnow-

Hear and know this is not the place nor the situation to strike up a religion debate. There are plenty of other forums that maybe will uphold you uncompassionate statements, whatever your beliefs this is a child. Here and now is the place for respect.
