3-year-old boy struck by stray bullet in Fayetteville

A 3-year-old child was struck by a bullet that was accidentally discharged inside an adjacent apartment in Fayetteville Thursday afternoon.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 3-year-old boy was struck by a bullet that was accidentally discharged inside an adjacent apartment in Fayetteville Thursday afternoon.

Fayetteville police responded to apartment building 832 on Lake Pine Drive.

The preliminary investigation revealed two soldiers had accidentally fired a gun inside their apartment.

The bullet went through a dividing wall into an adjacent apartment, striking the child.

The child was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The two men are being questioned about the shooting.
