3 Missing New Mexico Children Found Safe in California After Amber Alert Issued

Lloyd Wyatt, 9, Lakai Wyatt, 8, and Lexington Wyatt, 6, were abducted in Albuquerque, New Mexico around 12:30 a.m. by their mother, 28-year-old Laria R. Walker-Anderson, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's office.

Walker-Anderson was last seen leaving the Albuquerque metro area westbound on the I-40 Freeway and authorities believed she was headed to Southern California, according to the Sheriff's office.

The alert was in effect for San Bernardino County, San Diego County, Riverside County, Orange County and Los Angeles County.

Authorities received an electronic "ping" around 2:28 p.m. signaling that the vehicle had been on the 210 Freeway near Foothill Boulevard in La Verne, according to California Highway Patrol logs obtained by the Pasadena Star-News.

Walker-Anderson, who has full custodial rights to the boys, allegedly made threats of possible self harm or harm against the children to the children's father and had a .45 caliber handgun in the car, detectives said during a press conference.

"There was an altercation and a phone conversation where she had allegedly made threats against the lives of the children," said one Bernalillo County detective. "This was after the kids were taken by her. Her taking the kids out of the house at 1 a.m. in the morning followed up by threats, possibly, against their lives, that, all together, is why this alert is being sent out."

There is no arrest warrant or criminal charges against Anderson and friends of the mother told authorities that there may have been a domestic violence situation in the home, detectives said.

Lloyd Wyatt was originally reported to be 10 years old by authorities but his age was later updated to 9 years old.
