3 Duke Students Report Being Robbed at Gunpoint

Durham police are investigating a report by three Duke University students who said they were robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a report by three Duke University students who said they were robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.

The students told police they were walking in the parking lot outside the Whole Foods store on Broad Street in Durham at about 3 a.m. when a black Nissan Pathfinder with two occupants pulled up near them, and a man got out of the vehicle holding what they described as a semi-automatic handgun.

The man reportedly demanded and took cash, credit cards, cell phones and an iPod from the students before getting back into the sport utility vehicle, the students told police.

The undergraduate woman and two male graduate students were not hurt, police said.
