CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — After eight years in business, retail shop 3 Cups will close its doors on Feb. 2, owner Lee Alexander said in a letter on the company's website on Monday.

The store was unique, only offering a few things – mainly fine wine, tea and coffee (specifically one of the best espressos around.)

In the letter, Alexander said the company's business model was "no longer financially sustainable."

"The 3 Cups mission was to gather the very best products we could find from extraordinary farms, farmers and food producers and bring them to you. It has been an honor to offer products with true authentic flavor that bring such pleasure to our daily lives," he wrote. "I would like to personally thank each of you for your support of 3 Cups over the years."

The store is offering a 25 percent off inventory reduction sale on everything except bulk coffee, cafe food and drinks. All sales will be final.

Anyone with gift cards will have to use them before Feb. 2.
