A 23-year-old man died early Saturday after losing control of his SUV and hitting a tree outside Vass, according to State Highway Patrol officials.

Troopers said the Richard Chad Camp, of Vass, was traveling on Furr Road at about 5 a.m. when he lost control of his SUV. Camp was not wearing a seat belt, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Investigators have not released any other information about the cause of the wreck.

One lane of Furr Road was closed for about three hours as crews investigated the scene.
