24 Triangle events to check out this week

RALEIGH, N.C. — Events for beer and wine lovers, Jeff Dunham, community theater and Broadway hits, dinners and more will make your work week fly by.

NC Beer Month started Saturday, and one of the first local events is a Trophy Brewing Tap Takeover tonight at 7 p.m. at Bottle 501 in Durham. Another event starts at 6:30 p.m., when Neuse River Brewing Company hosts a charitable beer dinner featuring food from Mandolin Restuarant.

Seasons 52, a new restaurant at Crabtree Valley Mall, will celebrate their grand opening all day, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with specials on food and drink. Proceeds from certain purchases will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Broadway hit Something Rotten! tells the story of Nick and Nigel Bottom, two brothers who are desperate to write a hit play. You can see the hilarious musical at 7:30 p.m. at DPAC and at other times throughout the week.

Starting at 5 p.m. at Trophy Tap & Table in downtown Raleigh, Wine To Water is hosting a drink and dine for a cause event to raise awareness and funds for the global water crisis. For every $1 donated Tuesday night, one person receives clean water for one year.

If you're in the mood for trivia tonight, both Crank Arm Brewing and The Pinhook offer games.

Shawnthony Calypso will perform at 10 p.m. at Neptunes. Admission is $5.

Jake Dean will perform at The Oak in Raleigh at 6:30 p.m.

Be transported by glorious music and cheer Eliza on as she grabs her chance for reinvention, changing the lives of Henry Higgins and everyone she meets along the way. My Fair Lady performances start tonight at the PlayMakers Repertory Company at 7:30 p.m.

A Hindsight Wine Dinner at Weathervane in Chapel Hill tonight features four courses with wine pairings and a selection of desserts. The dinner is $60 per person.

The Eyes Up Here comedy showcase at Goodnight's features all-female comedians. Doors open at 8 p.m. for an 8:30 show, and tickets are only $5.

Parkside Restaurant will host a wing-eating contest from 6 to 9 p.m. Participants can sign a waiver and try to eat all six wings made with Carolina Reapers to win a prize. Spectators can enjoy 50 cent wings and Crank Arm Brewing's "Death Ryde" IPA during the event.

Enjoy a Wicked Weed Tap Takeover at The Glass Jug in Durham from 5 to 10 p.m. tonight as part of NC Beer Month.

Dames in the Kitchen, a dinner at The Root Cellar in Chapel Hill, will offer a culinary tour through North Carolina at 6:30 p.m. featuring the masterpieces of local chefs. Tickets are $65 each or more if you want to participate in a raffle drawing.

Be a part of Raleigh's largest pop-up underground art show at the Lincoln Theatre starting at 7 p.m. There will be 40+ emerging artists, live body painting and a free pancake bar at the Pancakes & Booze Art Show. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Tab-One, Sinopsis, Mosca Flux, Lazarus, Venomiss and Ghost Dog will be performing live at The Pour House Music Hall as part of Local Band Local Beer night. Tickets are $5.

Second Floor Stereo and Taylor Leopold will perform at Deep South in Raleigh at 8:30 p.m.

The Southern Ideal Home Show starts at the fairgrounds at 10 a.m. today and continues all weekend. Tickets are $10 for the event that hosts more than 300 home and garden experts.

Beer Durham will host a NC Beer Month Friday Party from 4:40 to 7:30 p.m. with live music by Robinson of Arcane Americana and several NoDa Brewing beers on draft.

Proof in Raleigh is hosting a Rock for Refugees benefit to help the Welcome Home Project, which funds efforts to secure furniture and household items in a home for newly arriving refugee families. A $15 donation is suggested for the evening of music, dinner and drinks.

Carbon Leaf will perform at Cat's Cradle at 8 p.m.

Get ready to laugh at all those puppets -- Jeff Dunham will perform at PNC Arena at 8 p.m.

Three DJs will be spinning 90s tunes and reggae music at the Lincoln Theatre tonight for a Barcode Silent Party starting at 10:30 p.m.
