23 HS seniors get community college electrician certificate

— Delgado Community College says 23 seniors at Warren Easton Charter High School have received electrician certificates before getting their high-school diplomas.

A news release Wednesday said 16 also made the national academic honor society for two-year institutions, which requires at least a 3.4 grade-point average.

All 23 received the Residential Electrician Certificate of Technical Studies on Tuesday, a week before their high-school graduation.

It's Warren Easton's second group of dual enrollment students at Delgado.

Last year's class had seven students from Warren Easton and nine from Grace King High School. One continued with Delgado's electrical program and got his commercial electrician's certificate Tuesday.

Delgado says some of the second class plan to go directly to work, some plan to continue at Delgado and some are heading to four-year colleges.
