Police said Friday they are investigating the shooting death of a Rocky Mount man.

<b>ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.</b> — Police said Friday they are investigating the shooting death of a Rocky Mount man.

An officer on patrol heard gunshots in the area of the 800 block of Walnut Street at about 9:45 a.m. and later found a wounded man, police said.

The man, identified as Keenan Marshall Mercer, 21, was taken to UNC Nash Hospital, where he died.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1411 or Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111.
