20 Triangle events to check out this week

RALEIGH, N.C. — If you don't want to just go home after work, get out and try these fun events this week.

A weekly concert series continues tonight at Kings in downtown Raleigh. The ever-changing program features a rotating selection of protest music from many genres. Tickets are $8; doors open at 8.

The Tavern in Durham hosts a fun, free trivia night every Monday at 7 p.m.

The Greg Finger Band will perform live at The Pour House Music Hall at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5.

Intimate Apparel tells the story of a middle-aged African-American seamstress overcoming obstacles in 1900s New York. See it at the Paul Green Theatre in Chapel Hill.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch will be at DPAC all week, and shows start tonight at 7:30 p.m. The genre-bending, smashing musical sensation tells a story about finding your other half and discovering the origin of love.

Tonight is Open Mic Night at Goodnight's, which means at least 20 comedians and lots of fun.

See bands Reagan Youth, Sibannac and Life Alert perform at Kings starting at 9 p.m.

The Whisky Wednesday Run Club is a weekly running, walking, skipping and hopping group. Bring your friends -- two or four-legged -- to Dram & Draught at 6 p.m. for a three-mile journey through downtown Raleigh and an optional round of whiskey.

It's Specialty Keg Night, and that means master brewers at Lonerider Brewing Company will be serving something different tonight. Starting at 6 p.m., you can try the brewery's classic Sweet Josie Brown Ale brewed with chocolate and toasted coconut.

The Devil Makes Three is an Americana band from California that blends bluegrass, old time, country, folk, blues, jazz, ragtime and rockabilly music together. See them perform at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro at 8:30 p.m.

Grab some popcorn and celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dirty Dancing tonight by seeing the 1987 classic romantic film at select theaters in the Triangle, including Crossroads 20 in Cary, Regal Stadium 14 at North Hills and Silverspot at Chapel Hill.

Perfect for a girls' night out, Goodnight's Eyes Up Here comedy showcase features all-women comedians. The fun starts at 8:30 p.m., and admission is only $5.

Provenance in downtown Raleigh welcomes Three Sticks Wines and Ram’s Gate Winery for a delicious charity wine dinner at 7 p.m. Proceeds from your ticket purchase will go to benefit the Frankie Lemmon School and Developmental Center.

Carolina Ballet presents Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale The Little Mermaid starting tonight at 8 p.m. Shows run through Feb. 19.

Born Again Heathens and three other bands will perform at Deep South at 8 p.m.

Beyu Caffe in Durham is starting a new weekly event called Latin Vibe with the help of the CoboBrothers Dance Co. A free dance lesson starts at 9 p.m. followed by a Latin dance party.

Don't miss Rhythm and Blues master Albert White, who began playing guitar in the late 50s, at The Bullpen in Durham at 7 p.m. There's no cover, and $1 of every draft pint purchased during the show will be donated to the Music Maker Relief Foundation.

A Heroes Tribute featuring the music of Philip Glass, David Bowie and Brian Eno will take place at UNC's Memorial Hall tonight at 8 p.m.

American Aquarium will play at the Lincoln Theatre tonight and Saturday at 9 p.m.

Kick back, relax and enjoy an evening of jazz music at Chatham Hill Winery in downtown Cary with Paul Bomar. The band plays until 10 p.m.
