HENDERSON, N.C. — A three-vehicle crash east of Henderson on Saturday left a 2-year-old girl dead and three people seriously injured, authorities said Tuesday.

A 1997 Toyota driven by Leah Ann Burgess, 22, of Henderson, rear-ended a 2008 Toyota driven by Tericia Williams Parrish, 48, of Henderson, on westbound Vicksboro Road shortly before 6 p.m. as Parrish slowed to make a left turn, the State Highway Patrol said.

After impact, Burgess' vehicle cross the center line and collided with an eastbound 1989 Chevrolet driven by Wayne Steed, 66, of Henderson, authorities said.

Elena Walker, who was in Burgess' vehicle, was killed in the crash.

Burgess and Parrish were taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, authorities said, while Steed was taken to Maria Parham Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Their conditions weren't available Tuesday.
