DURHAM, N.C. — Police are searching for two men wanted in a carjacking Thursday.

The incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. at the Buy Quick Mart on Alston Avenue and N.C. Highway 55. Police said Crystal Zacharias went inside the store, leaving her 9-month-old boy with her friend, Shonda Young, inside the car, police said.

Police said two men with a shotgun approached the vehicle and forced Young out of the car and drove away with the baby still inside.

When Zacharias ran down the road after the men, they stopped the car and took the baby out of the car before fleeing the scene, police said.

Authorities later located the car near the intersection of Summit and South Alston streets. They said there was only one person in the car at the time who fled from the vehicle and ran away.

Police have not yet released a description of the men. Anyone with any information about the case is urged to contact Durham police at 919-560-4440.
