BESSEMER CITY, N.C. — Police in North Carolina say two men wanted in connection with an assault and attempted shooting at a basketball court in February have turned themselves in.
The Gaston Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/2oWxEuJ) Michael Meeks III and Dequan Rashud McMiller are in the Gaston County jail on a $150,000 bond apiece on charges of felony malicious assault in secret and felony conspiracy. Both men are 21, and it's not known if they have attorneys.
Bessemer City Police Chief Tom Ellis said the pair turned themselves in on Tuesday.
According to arrest warrants, the two approached Kevin Davon-Shammah Goodwin from behind on a city basketball court on Feb. 20 and began attacking him. Authorities say the suspects tried to shoot Goodwin twice with an AM15 rifle, but the gun didn't fire either time.
