DURHAM, N.C. — Two people were injured on Saturday afternoon when a large tree fell on top of an occupied vehicle in Durham, officials said.

Durham authorities responded to the call at 3:29 p.m. in the 300 block of W. Trinity Avenue. When they arrived on scene, firefighters reported a tree on top of a car and power lines on the ground.

One occupant was able to get out of the car, officials said, but sustained injuries to the face. A second occupant was pulled out of the vehicle as well, but was found to be in cardiac arrest. Both people were taken to Duke University Medical Center.

Officials said 25 firefighters responded to the call, and crews were still on the scene around 4:45 p.m.
