2 dogs die in Chapel Hill house fire

Chapel Hill home catches fire Wednesday morning
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill firefighters fought back a fire Wednesday morning at a home on Homestead Road.

The fire started around 8 a.m.

A photo tweeted by the Chapel Hill Fire Department showed flames and heavy smoke coming from the residence.

Officials said the home was owned by the University of North Carolina.

There were no injuries to people, officials said, but two dogs died in the fire.

Authorities closed the road between Seawell School Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
