— Two people died and another was injured late Friday night in a single-vehicle wreck in Fayetteville, officials said.

The crash happened at 11:55 p.m., according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol. Troopers said speed was the main factor in the accident that killed the driver, a 27-year-old male, and a 21-year-old female passenger. A third 21-year-old man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The wreck happened on McCormick Bridge Road. Troopers said the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

The front seat passenger was a female. My wife went to school with her father. He also lost a son less than a year ago. We are not intended to bury our children, but twice in a year is unbelievable. Thoughts and prayers to the families, but a special one for him.
