2 arrested, 3 sought in staged car crash in Durham

Two men were arrested this week and another three are wanted on charges of insurance fraud in connection with a car accident on Oct. 27, according to Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin.

DURHAM, N.C. — Two men were arrested this week and another three are wanted on charges of insurance fraud in connection with a car accident on Oct. 27, according to Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin.

Goodwin alleges that the group staged the crash in order to file fraudulent insurance claims with Repwest Insurance Company.

Terrell Bruce Allen, 54, of 308 Gail St. in Wendell, and Alan Lindsey Lea, 24, of 1422 Wyldewood Road in  Durham, each face charges of attempting to obtain property by false pretense and insurance fraud.

Allen's bond was set at $2,500. Lea's bond is $5,000.

Goodwin said Bryant Emanual Burton, 32, of 3402 Timmons Ave. in Greensboro; Kenneth Clevester Burton, 37, of 3001 Weaver St. in Durham; and Jeremy Lee Burton, 28, of 1802 Guess Road in Durham, are also wanted in association with the case.
