— A 19-year-old man who admitted that he sexually abused a 5-year-old girl at his mother's daycare will be sentenced in federal court Friday.

Timothy R. Lukens told police that while his mother went to a doctor's appointment on Feb. 10, he watched the children in her daycare, which was operated at their house at 212 S. Dougherty Drive.

He admitted to police that he performed a sex act on the girl in a bathroom, according to an indictment.

The girl told her father's fiancee that she had been "touched" by "Tim," according to the indictment. The girl's statements were reported to military police on Fort Bragg who then turned the case over to the FBI.

Call me ignorant, racist, hater or what not:
Leon Gary Plauche - 5 years probation.
Ellie Nesler - 3 years for manslaughter on a 10 years sentence.
Dennis Raymond McCarthy - killed Aug 24 2009, no suspects!

The country would be America. Modern is August of this year. I was not aware we had become a despotic regime but I suppose it's possible under Obama. We can disagree, but don't play the "ignorant" card while throwing a jab.

I thought that too, and can't help but wonder why.

RC - "Mine is rooted in reality and how the world really is. Yours is rooted in a fantasy of "hang-em-high" cowboy justice that isn't even practiced anywhere in the world except a few despotic regimes and some Islamic fascisms....get a grip."

Yours is NOT rooted in reality. Reality - and decades of rehabilitation and testing have proven pedophiles CAN'T change. Therefore, the reality is, they will ALWAYS be a threat to innocent children and should never be allowed in a society that has them again.

And since every society has children, that means everywhere.

Personally, I wish they could all be sent to a desserted island where all they could hurt would be one another, but that's not gona happen.

We here in the US think we have the answers to all of society's problems when in fact all we do is treat those problems with kid gloves which only serves the criminals, not the innocent.

    God bless.

"People who commit these sort of crimes are animals and should be dealt with like a sick animal. Put them down before they can hurt anyone else. Cultures have these traditons because THEY ARE EFFECTIVE in preventing further events. People don't "accidentally" molest someone or blunder into this sort of crime "going along with a bad crowd"." -kilquian

And what country and society do you live in? And PLEASE name one modern industrialized/advanced society today that "puts people down" as you so eloquently put it.

And I don't have sympathy for too many folks, just a healthy disdain and intolerance for ignorant rants on, an otherwise, intelligent forum.

You have your opinion. I have mine. Mine is rooted in reality and how the world really is. Yours is rooted in a fantasy of "hang-em-high" cowboy justice that isn't even practiced anywhere in the world except a few despotic regimes and some Islamic fascisms....get a grip.

Why does Professor always feel the need to comment in caps? Is that going to make us all listen to nonsense?

"I just wish folks would stop calling for the death penalty or life w/o parole every time they see the words "sex" and "child" in the same paragraph." Roncorey1

Now that is a statement I really do not like.

People who commit these sort of crimes are animals and should be dealt with like a sick animal. Put them down before they can hurt anyone else. Cultures have these traditons because THEY ARE EFFECTIVE in preventing further events. People don't "accidentally" molest someone or blunder into this sort of crime "going along with a bad crowd".

You really do read as being sympathic towards child molesters Roncorey1.

RC - "He'll probably get 24 months or a suspended sentence and be on supervised probation for a long time. And, of course, he'll have to register as a sex offender when he gets out."

And he'll be back in the news again some day cause he'll commit a crime such as this on another innocent child.

Our punishment for crimes in this country are laughable. They don't deter the crimes, they don't protect the innocent, they don't rehabilitate anyone.

    God bless.

Chemical castration has only been used in some states for serial rapists and molesters that the courts deemed a "sexually violent predator" and such. And, maybe I'm wrong, but I never heard that that punsishment was used under NC law.

Who said anything about chemical castration? If we're going to impose this let's do it correctly, with a knife!

Why do you think that I am somehow on this guy's side? Where do you get that?
I just wish folks would stop calling for the death penalty or life w/o parole every time they see the words "sex" and "child" in the same paragraph.

And he IS gonna get sentenced and there is nothing we can do to change the outcome. He'll probably get 24 months or a suspended sentence and be on supervised probation for a long time. And, of course, he'll have to register as a sex offender when he gets out.
