17-year-old dies in Franklin County car crash

Posted December 6, 2016

— A 17-year-old teen died Monday in a two-vehicle crash on John Winstead Road near Pearces Road in Franklin County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

According to investigating troopers, the wreck happened around 3:15 p.m. when a Toyota SUV driven by Kendall Fuller, 29, of Zebulon, crossed in front of the path of a Ford pickup truck driven by 17-year-old Jonathan Perry Jr., of Youngsville.

Troopers said Fuller was driving north on John Winstead Road when he attempted to turn left. Perry attempted to avoid Fuller’s vehicle, but he struck the front right of the Toyota and was thrown from his 1998 Ford.

Perry was taken to WakeMed, where he later died. Fuller sustained minor injuries, and he was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Speed nor alcohol were a factor in the crash, troopers said.
