BURLINGTON, N.C. — A 16-year-old boy died in an accident when the driver swerved to avoid a deer in Alamance County in the early hours of Saturday.

State troopers said a vehicle was traveling south on Lake Latham Road around 1:30 a.m. when the driver swerved to miss a deer. The driver over-corrected, sending the vehicle off the road to the left. It overturned several times.

All seven occupants were ejected, including the deceased who was in the cargo area of the vehicle, troopers said.

Anthony Norris, 16, of Burlington, was airlifted but later pronounced dead.

Alcohol was a factor in the accident, troopers said.

No information about the condition of the other occupants was available.
