16 subtle ways your man shows he loves you (when he's too scared to tell you)
Posted July 10, 2016
He loves you ... He loves you not. If he does these 16 things, he definitely loves you.
1. He talks about your future
If he asks questions about your plans for the future and where you see yourself in the next few months, he is investigating where he fits in your future plans.
A man does not openly discuss possibilities unless he is seriously invested in your relationship. By asking you about your plans, dreams and goals, he is gauging if he would be compatible with your future.
2. He notices and remembers the smallest details about you
If he truly loves you, he will watch and take note of the mundane details and quirks that make you … well, you.
He sees your lips pout as you fall into deep contemplation. He takes note of the amount of sugar packets you stir into your tea. He notices how you point your toes whenever someone takes your picture.
Without even realizing he's doing it, he passively observes you. He will be able to tell you little details about you that not many people recognize. His attentiveness is a sign of adoration and love.
3. He does the little things
As your relationship develops, he begins to recognize exactly what makes you happy.
He knows your favorite food, drink and movie. He even appreciates your humor. He brings Cheetos and Dr. Pepper to movie night because he knows how much you love them. He sends you funny chinchilla videos because he knows you belly laugh on the floor every time.
He understands what specific things do to your mood and tailors his actions to best please you. He understands you on a personal level and does small acts to secure your happiness.
4. He discovers your passions
He sits and watches polar bear videos with you because he knows it’s your favorite animal. He plays Taylor Swift in his car and sings, with the windows down, as loud as he can with you. He takes you to your favorite sushi bar. He takes you salsa dancing every Wednesday night because he knows how much you love it.
He recognizes your passions and creates memorable experiences for the two of you to share together.
5. He subtly touches you
Being physically attracted to someone is a crucial and vital part of a romantic relationship.
Guys take to heart the idea that "actions speak louder than words" much more than women do. When your man is in love, he constantly wants to reach out and subtly caress or touch you.
He brushes your hair out of your eyes. He kisses your temples. He squeezes your shoulder. He grabs your hand to guide you across the street.
Through subtle (non-sexual) gestures, he tells you he loves you.
6. He tests you
Whether your boyfriend means to or not, he puts you in particular situations to see how you react.
He tells you he is moving away for the summer for a unique job opportunity to see how you respond to the radical news. Your response is what he examines and bases his judgments off of.
If your man is serious about you, he tries to see if you're serious about him. He wants to know how much he means to you, deep down.
7. He apologizes even when he’s right
To apologize to your significant other strips yourself of pride and shows consideration for the other's feelings.
A common question people contemplate is, “Would you rather be loved or right?” If he takes the high road and apologizes for situations that are far from his control, he demonstrates deeper and more profound feelings for you. He shows he would rather be loved than right in your eyes.
8. He adopts your unique mannerisms
Often subconsciously, people mimic the actions of those near them. They have a neurological desire to mirror the actions they are surrounded by most often.
The more time you spend with him, the more he makes jokes that match your humor. He says hello or gives hugs to random strangers if that's what you do. If you pay attention, you'll notice him even talking like you.
Time together creates a set of shared actions that ultimately bonds you to one another.
9. He wants to know your past
He wants to know what shaped you into the remarkable human being he adores today.
He desires to know what morals and values you were raised with, what trials you had to overcome, who taught you your favorite hobby and all about your embarrassing childhood memories.
His desire to learn every aspect about you is an assurance he is invested and in love.
10. He gets your humor
He thinks you are the funniest person he knows. He laughs at your jokes even when you both know they are not that funny.
11. He sends you his favorite songs
People do not often share with others music that is personal and intimate. If a man shares with you songs with deep meaning, he is ultimately sharing words he cannot otherwise say.
Sending you songs is a way to express deep emotions without the fear of rejection. Listen to the lyrics and recognize your man is speaking to you through a different channel.
12. He takes care of your human needs
Whether by a daily good-morning or good-night text, a reminder to drive safe, a simple message telling you to get some rest for your big test tomorrow or offering you his jacket, your man is constantly seeking out opportunities to serve and take care of you. He notices your needs and tries to fulfill them.
13. He introduces you to his family
Men rarely introduce girls to their families unless they see a real future together. Meeting those he values and loves is a big deal and should not be taken lightly.
14. He ditches guys' night
If your man is willing to give up guys' night for a night in with you, then you know his feelings are deep.
15. He gets upset when you don’t respond to his phone calls or messages
It has been 45 minutes since you last responded to your man’s text message and his head is spinning. He is questioning if he said something offensive or too intense or if something better is holding your attention.
If he is constantly waiting for you to respond and interact with him, his feelings run deep.
16. He is the first person there for you on your bad days
When the world seems to be beating you up from every angle, he is there for you immediately.
Even without you mentioning you need him by your side, he is there. He is attentive, detailed in his approach to cheer you up and prepared for the worst. He comes bearing tissues, chocolate and your favorite movie.
He knows you and he is there for you.
