13-year-old riding bicycle hit by vehicle in Milwaukie

— A 13-year-old girl riding her bike was injured Sunday after being struck by a vehicle in Milwaukie.

The incident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Southeast Linwood Avenue and Southeast Monroe Street, according to the Milwaukie Police Department.

Police say the teen was riding her bicycle east on Southeast Monroe Street. As she approached Southeast Linwood Avenue, she went through the intersection without stopping for a stop sign and was hit by a vehicle heading south on Linwood.

The teen was not wearing a helmet and sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to OHSU as a precaution.

Her parents have been notified and are with her at the hospital. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Police say no citations were issued.
