— A 12-year-old suffered a gunshot wound while fishing with an adult and other children at a pond in Wilson's Mills Sunday night.

The group was fishing off Uzzle Pond Road when they heard gunshots from a wooded area at about 7 p.m., authorities said.

No one in the group could tell how far away the shooter was, authorities said.

The 12-year-old, whose name wasn't released, was shot in the arm and transported to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Investigators were combing the area Sunday night, searching for the shooter.

The bullet that hit the boy was not from a BB gun, authorities said, but they could not say what type of gun was used.

The incident was being investigated as an accidental shooting, authorities said.

WHOCARES;;;;;; Shame on you. Wilson Mills is a great place to live. You should not make fun of something you know nothing about. Maybe you were joking. Think before you right it down. Makes you sound foolish. Pray the young man that was shot will be OK. GOD BLESS.

skepticghoal--Yes you can shoot off guns in the county, but if you accidently hit someone who do you think is responsible. Yea YOU

WOW! I'm sure that was very scary for all involved. I'm glad the boy is going to be OK! I hope they find the shooter. There is no excuse for negligence where fire arms are concerned. If you don't know what you are doing, don't shoot!

You can call on Zeus and Athena and get a quicker answer than by that other method.

fatboy; didn't know you were perfect. can you not just pray for the young boy and not try to show everyone how smart you are?

Somehow I doubt it's a sick sniper. Snipers do not use shotguns.

It's fully legal to target shoot, shoot firearms, or dispatch nuisance animals on a person's own property out in the country.

Fatboy- Did someone steal your doughnuts for breakfast? That was very rude of you. I hope the little fellow will be all right and they find out whose shooting that hasn't had safety lessons and get that gun from him/her.
