12-year-old boy killed in Harnett ATV accident
Authorities said a 12-year-old boy was killed in an ATV accident Thursday evening in Harnett County.
Posted — UpdatedBROADWAY, N.C. — Authorities said a 12-year-old boy was killed in an ATV accident Thursday evening in Harnett County.
Police said Benjamin D. Stafford, 12, of Broadway, rolled an ATV into a 13-foot embankment along McNeil Road in Broadway. Stafford hit his head on rocks and was pinned by the ATV, officials said.
Officials said Stafford's father located the boy near a creek on McNeil Road around 6 p.m.
Stafford was unaccompanied and was not wearing a helmet, police said.
No charges will be filed in the case, according to the State Highway Patrol.
