12 arrested after fight at Bladen County school

Posted March 31, 2009

— Twelve students at a Bladen County high school have been charged following a fight at the school Monday.

Chief Deputy Phillip Little of the Bladen County Sheriff's Office said the fight broke out before lunch Monday morning at West Bladen High School. A school resource officer suffered minor injuries as he tried to break up the fight.

Little said the fight was between two "loosely organized" groups of students who have clashed before.

A dozen students, half under age 18, were charged with inciting a riot and assault on a government officer, Little said.

School was closed Tuesday. Sheriff's deputies were continuing to investigate the altercation and, Little said, more arrests may result.

They should charge these students to the fullest extent. They need to learn that school is a place for education, not for fighting. Also, the principal should have pulled them in the office and gave them an old fashioned paddling and I am pretty sure this wouldn't happen again. I hope they scare the mess out of these kids so they don't continue to fight and cause problems for the innocent ones who attend school with them.
