Posted April 18
After you’ve been married for a while, you might find yourself doing the same three things for date nights over and over again. You’ve fallen into a routine and are ready for some fresh date ideas to spice things up. Here are 11 unique date ideas for the couple in the same-date rut:
1. Sign up for a race
Find a fun run happening in your area and sign up. Some places hold color runs, nighttime runs or zombie runs to give you a fun twist on exercise. Whether you walk the race or come to win, you’ll have fun encouraging each other as you go.
2. Make s’mores indoors
Wrap up and cuddle in a blanket as you bring the outdoor experience inside your home. Toast marshmallows over your stove top, over the fireplace or in the oven. Try these recipes for a fun spin on the traditional s’more:
Pick berries at a U-pick farm. The fruit is typically a little pricier than what you find at a grocery store, but the fresh, juicy bites are worth every penny. Use the fruit to make a delicious pie, homemade jam, smoothies or eat them plain for a yummy snack.
4. Get a couples massage
Splurge on a relaxing massage. This could be something fun to do on your anniversary or to celebrate another special occasion.
5. Experiment with a new meal
Have a night in and whip up a meal you’ve never tried before. Set the table for a candlelight dinner and enjoy a romantic evening with just the two of you.
6. Go sight-seeing at a nearby city
Make it a day trip or stay for the weekend. Whichever you choose, this will be fun change of pace from your usual dates. Really get adventurous and take local transportation and get lost on purpose.
7. Attend a comedy show
Enjoy an improv or stand-up comedy show for a night of entertainment and laughs.
8. Learn something new together
Take a cooking class, painting class or swimming class together. This can be a little pricy, but it’s a fun way to make memories and learn something new all while having fun with your sweetheart.
9. Watch a movie at a drive-in
Pack some blankets and snacks in your car and head out to the drive-in for a movie night. You can plan a really nostalgic evening by hitting up a local diner for burgers and shakes before the movie starts.
10. Spend the night at a local hotel
Sometimes it’s nice to get away even if you aren’t leaving your hometown. Splurge a little and enjoy a night at a nearby hotel with your love.
11. Read together
Cuddle up on the couch, grab a few snacks and read together. Read the same book and chat about the storyline and plot twists later.
Take turns planning a date to add variety and excitement to your relationship. No matter what you decide to do for your date, you’ll enjoy it as long as you’re together.
