Posted August 7

— A 1-year-old girl is dead after a collision on a North Carolina road, and the state Highway Patrol says it's investigating the crash.

According to a statement from the patrol on Monday, 1-year-old Michelle Zavala was killed when the car she was riding in collided with a car traveling south on U.S. 401in Franklin County. The two cars were parallel to each other, and although the second car was in a right-turn lane, the patrol said that car continued heading south.

After that collision, the car the baby was in crossed the center line and hit another car before it went off the road and overturned into a creek. Four other people in the car were injured and taken to a Raleigh hospital.

The accident occurred on Friday.

Condolences to the family of this young child. It is tragic that an innocent young life has ended because of someone's inattentiveness.
I don't know how many times I have been traveling within the 3 Raleigh lanes on I-40 at the Wade Ave split, and had someone just continue through the yellow marked pavement and straight into my lane, as if they did nothing wrong. I've even seen people use that lane as a way to speed past someone. Have narrowly avoided accidents so many times there. There are quite a few warnings of which lane you should be in for wherever it is you want to go! There is no excuse.
