One person died in a single-vehicle wreck on Wednesday morning in Durham County.

— A Rougemont man was killed on Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle wreck in Durham County, the State Highway Patrol said.

Paul Mason Budd, 49, was southbound on Range Road at about 6:45 a.m. when his Chevrolet pickup ran off the right side of the road near Tom Jones Road and struck and embankment before hitting three trees, Trooper M.D. Holmes said.

Speed and weather are believed to be factors in the crash, and Budd wasn't wearing a seat belt, Holmes said.

Spot on Edna and Morrissa, but you have to admit WRAL excels at giving us "dirty laundry." How ironic and tasteless is the ad with this new story is for "road kill," t-shirts. Stay classy WRAL.

When will people ever learn to buckle up and slow down in bad weather? A lot of blame is put on weather, but humans are given a brain to figure out they need to go slower, but some never learn either lesson . Prayers for the family.

I know everyone wants to be the first to report news, but have you even thought about how someone would feel it they saw this story, recognized the truck & learned their loved one died? I have no idea if the family knows, but how about a wee bit of compassion? Can't you wait to post the picture until you know the family has been notified?
