1 hospitalized after explosion in Highland

HIGHLAND, Ill — One person was taken to the hospital after an explosion was reported in Highland, Illinois.
Police confirm the gas explosion occurred at the Gateway Cylinder Technologies in the 200 block of Plaza Street around 10 a.m. Monday.
Fire officials said a couple cylinders, which contained a very flammable gas, exploded while they were being tested. Firefighters were able to put the fire out within 30 minutes.
The building where the explosion occurred was destroyed.
The person taken to the hospital suffered second-degree burns, according to Highland Fire Department officials.
Traffic and train traffic in the area was shut down for a short period of time as a precaution in the area.
No other details have been released.
