1 Dead in Siler City Accident

One person died Sunday evening in a single-vehicle accident in Siler City.

SILER CITY — One person died Sunday evening in a single-vehicle accident in Siler City.

According to Highway Patrol, the accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. near the intersection of White Smith and Epps Clark Roads. Authorities said the vehicle ran off the road and struck a concrete guardrail.

According to investigators, one of the passengers in the car, 60-year-old James Riddle, 60, of Van Thomas Road, died in the accident. The driver of the vehicle, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital.

Authorities said alcohol was a factor in the accident. There has been no word yet on any charges.
