2 charged with murder after fight at Fayetteville sports bar

Two men were arrested Sunday afternoon after one person died early Sunday following an assault in a Fayetteville parking lot.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two men were arrested Sunday afternoon after one person died early Sunday following an assault in a Fayetteville parking lot.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to an incident at 301 Wingz, a sports bar located along the 400 block of North Eastern Boulevard.

At the scene, they determined that two men had assaulted Michael Mansfield, 52, in the parking lot outside the bar. According to officials, the assault resulted in serious injuries, and Mansfield died later at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Police have identified two suspects who fled the scene in a car as Hubert Underwood II, 37, of the 2900 block of Custer Avenue and Steven Rosser, 26, of the 4100 block of Cedar Creek Road.

Both men were arrested and charged with first-degree murder. They were being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
