1 dead, 1 on life support after shooting in Fayetteville restaurant parking lot
Police discovered two gunshot victims in the parking lot of a Fayetteville restaurant late Tuesday.
Posted — UpdatedPolice say 18-year-old Dareon Cook of Fayetteville died at the scene and 32-year-old Jonathan Goodman, of Goldsboro, was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he's listed in critical condition.
Around 11:50 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were patrolling area businesses when they located an occupied stationary vehicle in the parking lot of the Smokey Bones Restaurant located at 1891 Skibo Road.
"They located these individuals. They were doing a business check, located the car, saw these two individuals in there who had been shot, immediately getting medics there trying to work with them," said Lt. Todd Joyce with the Fayetteville Police Department.
Police said they are not sure if Tuesday night’s shooting was drug or gang related.
