1 charged, 1 injured following Fayetteville shooting

One man was charged and another was injured in a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — One man was charged and another was injured in a Sunday morning shooting.

According to officials with the Fayetteville Police Department, officers responded to a shooting at 105 Mary Street around 3 a.m.

They found Stephen McGill, 39, lying on the street in front of his home with gunshot wounds on his chest and back. McGill was transported to the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department charged Dontez Antonio Ward, 26, of Fayetteville, with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury for his involvement in the shooting. According to the officials with the Fayetteville Police Department, the two men were involved in an ongoing dispute.

Ward is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center with a $50,000 bond.
