RALEIGH, N.C. — About 1,000 Duke Energy customers in Raleigh and Cary lost power early Friday morning as temperatures dropped into the low teens.

Residents contained between Hillsborough Street to the north, Buck Jones Road to the south and Interstate 40 in to the west were in the dark. It's unclear what caused the outage.

Duke Energy restored power to most customers in the area around 6 a.m.

Another 175 customers were reported to be without power in Cary near the intersection of East Chatham Street and NE Maynard Road, just to the west of WakeMed Soccer Park. Duke estimated the lights would be back on there by 7:15 a.m.

Temperatures at 5 a.m. were down to 13 degrees.
